Animation¶
Controls analog variation and changes over time. All noise is deterministic: the same settings produce the same result. Speed controls the overall rate, and Random Seed changes the phase.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Flicker | Frame-by-frame changes in overall screen brightness. |
| Jitter | Horizontal variation per scan line, in pixels, for analog instability. |
| Hum | Power-supply hum: periodic horizontal distortion drifting vertically. |
| Dropout | Randomly removes strokes from each frame for a loose-connection effect. |
| Persistence | Frame-to-frame phosphor persistence. Moving contours leave fading trails. |
| Persist Frames | Number of historical frames used for persistence (1-8). |
| Burn-in | Phosphor burn-in. Content displayed for longer within the time window leaves a stronger imprint. |
| Burn-in Window | Sampling window for burn-in, in seconds. Content shown during this period is averaged into the imprint. |
| Speed | Rate of Flicker, Jitter, Hum and Refresh. |
| Random Seed | Seed for the noise phase. Use different seeds to avoid synchronized flicker across layers. |
Persistence, Burn-in and Trail Fade
Persistence retains recent frames and fades quickly. Burn-in accumulates an imprint over several seconds. Trace's Trail Fade fades along the stroke-by-stroke drawing order.
Vector Signal uses the sections actually drawn at each historical time for Persistence and Burn-in. When Trace Completion is animated in Manual mode, each historical frame's completion is reflected in its trail. More historical frames increase processing cost, so start with Persist Frames around 2.
