Enable GPU rendering (recommended)¶

- Open File > Project Settings > Video Rendering and Effects.
- Set Use to Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal / CUDA / DirectX).
| Environment | Backend |
|---|---|
| Mac | Metal |
| Windows + NVIDIA | CUDA |
| Windows + AMD/Intel | DirectX 12 |
Vector Signal's GPU finishing is supported on Apple Silicon/Metal in both the full version and demo. Contours and drawing order are processed on the CPU. For large images using Source Color or Hue Cycle with glow enabled, the GPU handles glow, screen effects and compositing. For trace settings, see Trace Engine.
Tip
Rendering uses the CPU when Software Only is selected or a GPU is unavailable. CPU-friendly settings, such as monochrome Vector Signal or small previews, are also handled automatically on the CPU.
Uninstall¶
Remove Beamscan.plugin (Mac) or Beamscan.aex (Windows) from the Plug-ins folder,
then restart After Effects.
